So I had to do a thorough cleaning of my apartment on Sunday/Monday to get it ready for a Monday afternoon showing. I can't believe how much junk I tossed out, yet it really didn't make a dent. And now I'm wondering - what do you all do with old computers? The laptop my uncle gave me my senior year of HS (which was already a few years old) just sits in its case and gathers dust. It technically still works, but it's ancient. (Windows 98!) It's a bit sentimental. I have all my old stories on it from when I thought I would someday be a young adult writer. So cute. I think I had transferred them to floppy disk at one point. But where can you even insert a floppy disk anymore? (I'll tell you where...jk)
But I don't want it to end up in a dump or worse, in a pseudo dump in Africa where children burn the wires, releasing toxic fumes, in order to get the scrap copper.
What to do?
Oh, and remember how excited I was about my $500 going on my CC and getting new sunglasses? I bought a pair for $8. And now I can't find them. I think I wore them three times total. *sigh*

(I can't get it all on one line for some reason)
You are awesome!
my county takes electronic waste. i like to think they don't send overseas to pollute the air, land and seas there, but in truth, i don't know... i suggest looking on your city or county's website.
Best Buy will take and recycle one electronic a day/week per customer. They do have certain things they do not take, but I know they take old computers, because they took mine.
thanks for all the good ideas!
