Sprouts

My Zinnias are sprouting! About a week ago I bought some plant starter kits. A lady at the store told me she had used them before and that they had worked. So I bought two strawberries, and then one each of tomatoes, sweet peppers, chives, and zinnias. I figured this would be a good way to start my container garden before I move and by the time I close on the house, they will be ready to be transplant and be set outside on my patio. Of course, I forgot that I have absolutely no south facing windows in my apartment, so I put four plants in an east window and two in a western facing window. Today is the first sign of life, and it's coming from the zinnias in the eastern window. If I get a sprout from another eastern plant, i'm moving the western plants to the east window too.

Anyway, I'm excited about the sprout (because I've never really grown anything before), but a little disappointed that it's coming from the one flower plant and not any of the food plants. Hopefully those just take longer to germinate.
